Professional Information

Flora Kuang is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne. Previously, Flora was a tenured assistant professor at VU University Amsterdam. Prior to obtaining her PhD, she was Chief Accountant in the Planning and Budgeting Headquarters at the State Post Bureau of China.

Flora serves on the leadership and staff team of Melbourne Centre for Corporate Governance and Regulation. She is a member of the Center of Asian Business and Economics (CABE), and an Associate Editor at the Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting (2017-).

Flora’s research interests include forensic accounting, compensation design, and corporate governance. Her work has been published in top accounting and finance journals, including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting, Organizations and Society, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. Her honors include Best Paper Award at AFAANZ Annual Conference (2018), FBE Research Grant (2016), and FBE Dean’s Certificate for Research Excellence (2015).

Flora is a charter member of Pelham Associates.
